In today's interview with Matthias John, Head of Marketing & Growth, we look at how prospective clients become our clients and what requirements they need to meet.

Matthias, briefly describe your tasks at FINVIA:‍

As Head of Marketing & Growth, I am responsible for the customer experience on our digital channels as well as the downstream sales processes.

Our family office services are as diverse as our clients. We therefore employ experts for the various specialist areas and I put together the right team of experts for further discussions with our potential clients.

Why did you join FINVIA?

FINVIA uses a digital infrastructure and processes to manage complex mandates. Of course, our experts are available to every client at all times, but digital innovations allow us to offer traditional multi-family office services to a wider audience. And that's exactly what I find so exciting about FINVIA:

Over the past 10 years, I have looked after wealthy investors in various positions in the financial industry. Very few providers are able to realize an optimal asset structure across all asset classes. However, this is exactly what wealthy investors expect from an asset manager. A multi-family office chooses precisely this comprehensive approach when structuring large wealth.

What specific services does FINVIA offer wealthy investors?

Our services cover all topics related to a complex asset strategy:

- From defining the optimal asset class allocation to achieving the investment objectives

- on implementation through exclusive access to liquid asset managers for equity and bond allocation, alternative investments and real estate

- to consolidated reporting of assets on our FINVIA platform for ongoing management.

We also take into account issues such as generation management and the establishment of a professional infrastructure through our external tax and legal advisors.

Our FINVIA platform is at the heart of this, facilitating the monitoring and ongoing management of the investment strategy for the client and the client advisor. The client portal provides a consolidated overview of all securities accounts, real estate and investments - including classic cars and luxury watches - and can also be used for external assets on request.

From what investment can I become a FINVIA customer?

This depends to a large extent on whether the investor wants to take advantage of comprehensive support or only parts of our service portfolio. We offer our services to a much broader client base than other family offices - but in order for the client to really benefit from us, they still need to have a certain minimum level of investment.

To set up a family office mandate, which includes structuring across all asset classes, a minimum investment of €2 million in funds to be disposed of should be available. However, we manage a large number of mandates in the mid double-digit and triple-digit million range.

Our service portfolio has a modular structure and can also be used in parts. For example, customers can use our liquid wealth management from a minimum amount of € 1 million. Our alternative investment platform enables semi-professional investors to subscribe to funds of funds and individual funds from €200,000 in a digital contract route. A real estate strategy in the area of direct real estate can be realized from an equity share of €3-5 million.

How can I imagine an implementation at asset class level?

Our liquid wealth management enables investment in equities and bonds through our access to renowned asset managers and investment boutiques - suitable for every market opinion and every client, whereby we can combine individual stock mandates and asset management funds.

We can structure alternative asset classes such as private equity, private debt or closed-end real estate funds through access to the most renowned funds across strategies, regions and managers and - especially in the portfolio development phase - harmonize them with the client's other asset classes.

Our real estate department forms a real estate strategy through the purchase and ongoing management of direct real estate or access to closed-end real estate funds and offers owners an all-round carefree package in the form of owner representation.

Matthias John is Head of Marketing & Growth at FINVIA and is responsible for the customer experience on our digital channels as well as the downstream sales processes.

During his part-time banking studies at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, he began his professional career in private client advisory at cooperative banks. In 2013, he moved to the American asset manager Grüner Fisher Investments, where he held various positions advising clients on financial portfolio management. Before joining FINVIA, Matthias built up sales and customer service for the digital asset manager LIQID in Berlin.
