The US equity market is currently "expensive"

The US stock market is currently still "expensive" compared to its own history. The price/earnings ratio is 29.1. Robert J. Shiller wrote a book in 2000 (and 2005) entitled "Irrational Exuberance". In it, he analyzed speculative bubbles, with a particular focus on the stock market and the real estate market, where he issued early warnings of bubbles bursting. He still publishes the data on his website and regularly comments on it. He was later awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics for his work.
