Inflation rate for households

The ECB writes in a recent study: "The impact of the recent rise in HICP inflation in the euro area is very different for low- and high-income households. [...] Baskets of goods differ across income groups, with low-income households spending proportionately more on essential goods. [...] The gap between the effective inflation rates of the lowest and highest income quintiles, calculated on the basis of household consumption data, is the widest it has been since 2006."
